The Celebration of Western Festivals

Many people are worried that Chinese culture will be ignored or even ruined by celebrating western festivals. On behalf of the for side, I think that we needn’t be over worried.

Firstly, it does not necessarily ruin Chinese culture. Actually, most Chinese have not ignored their native festivals. Traditional Chinese festivals still see larger population than western festivals. Secondly, it is a part of global cultural communication. While we are absorbing advanced science and technology from foreign countries, we are also taking in different cultures. Thirdly, most Chinese, especially the youth, celebrate western festivals merely out of the wish to connect with friends and create an entertaining atmosphere.

In a word, while we attach importance to the protection of traditional Chinese culture, we needn’t worry too much about the celebration of western festivals.
