Dear Editor,
I am writing to you to give the public some suggestions for good health.
In order to maintain our good health and lead lives that are as significant as possible, it is important to take some steps.
The first step I take is to keep regular hours and stick a healthy, balanced diet. The second step I recommend is to get regular exercise. Studies have shown that even such exercise as walking can have great benefits for our health if done on a regular basis. Third, I suggest seeing a doctor for a checkup on a regular basis. Last but not least, I take time to relax and renew my spirits and mental energy every day.
There are many things that we can do to stay healthy. The above steps are only a few suggestions. The important thing is to value our health and not neglect it.
Yours sincerely,
Wang Ming

M: There was a party for Mary.
W: When was it?
M: It was on the 20th at 8:00 p.m.
Text2
W: Well, you have cleaned out the refrigerator this time. Nothing is left.
M: Oh, yes. I had a lot of work all day and I had only a small lunch at the office.
Text3
M: I like to put the audience at ease when I finish my speech, so I usually tell a joke.
W: Yes, you put them at ease with a joke, and they put you at ease by laughing.
Text4
M: I looked through the newly-published newspaper just now.
W: Did you read the edition about ball games?
M: No, I only read the sports news about track and field.
Text5
W: Would you like to buy this suit, sir?
M: Well, I like the color and the material. But I’m afraid the price is too high. I need something cheaper?
Text6
W: How can I get to your house?
M: Oh, it’s very easy. My house is only five minutes’ walk from the station. Turn right outside the station, and then it’s the third street on the left. You can’t miss it. It’s got the number on the gate. It’s exactly opposite the park.
Text7
M: Where are you from?
W: The United States. I live in New York.
M: Oh, really? That’s a big city with a large population, right? By the way, do you like it there?
W: Yeah. I think it’s the only suitable place to live.
M: Why do you say that?
W: You see, there’s always something exciting to do, and it’s never boring.
M: My place isn’t boring, either. You can fish, grow vegetables, and do all kinds of things, although it’s small and quiet.
W: It sounds like you really like it here in New Zealand.
Text8
W: Now then, Mr. Wang, what seems to be the matter?
M: I just can’t sleep, doctor.
W: I see. And how long have you had this problem?
M: Oh, for about two weeks now.
W: Two weeks? Are you having headaches?
M: Sometimes.
W: Fever?
M: No.
W: Are you having any family problem?
M: No, not really. My wife and I get along very well.
W: And how about your work?
M: Well, I have been working a lot recently-------10 to 12 hours a day.
W: Maybe you should take a vacation and just relax for a while.
M: Well, I can’t right now. We’re in the middle of some important business.
W: Yes, I understand, but you really should slow down and relax.
Text9
W: Look! It’s snowing. Winter is here at last.
M: It’s really cold today.
W: Yes, you have to get used to it. The weather’s going to be like this for the next three months.
M: Then I’m going to Florida. Can you tell me about your weather diary? Why do you make notes about the different types of weather?
W: Because it’s interesting to see what the weather is like at different times and on different days. For example, we had very interesting weather on the 28th of April.
M: Really?
W: Yes, on the 28th of April, it was sunny while I was eating my breakfast. I’m sure everybody thought it would be a sunny day.
M: What happened?
W: At lunch, the sky became cloudy. In the afternoon, at four, the sky was black and it rained heavily. That was really an unusual day.
M: I think you should be a weather reporter. You know a lot about the weather.
W: Thanks. I want to be a weather reporter when I finish school. It’s an exciting job.
Text10
This morning I saw an accident happen at the corner of Green Street and Fifth Avenue. A woman who was picking up her son was driving a red sports car down Green Street very fast. While she was driving, she was talking on her mobile phone. At the same time, a man who had finished work was driving a blue truck along Fifth Avenue very slowly. While he was driving, he was drinking a bottle of cola and eating a sandwich. While the man was driving through the crossing, the woman in the sports car didn’t stop at the traffic light. As a result, the car crashed into the truck. Both the woman and the man were very angry. While they were shouting at each other, the police came. Fortunately, they were not hurt badly.
